The Mauna Loa style Vanda orchid lei
is a sturdy lei made from the 'lips' of the vanda orchids only. This is not
a round lei, but a very full flat lei that's often used for very special
occasions. The gold color of the inner 'lip' peeks through the dark lavender
outer portion, while the more complicated stringing method adds a rhythm and
elegance to the lei's appearance.
